What Are The Common Professional Terms of SMT Processing That You Need to Know?(I)

This paper enumerates some common professional terms and explanations for the assembly line processing of SMT machine.
1. PCBA
Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) refers to the process by which PCB boards are processed and manufactured, including Printed SMT strips, DIP plugins, functional testing, and finished product Assembly.
2. PCB board
Printed Circuit Board (PCB) is a short term for Printed circuit board, usually divided into single panel, double panel and multi-layer board. Commonly used materials include FR-4, resin, glass fiber cloth and aluminum substrate.
3. Gerber files
Gerber file mainly describes the collection of document format of PCB image (line layer, solder resistance layer, character layer, etc.) drilling and milling data, which needs to be provided to PCBA processing plant when PCBA quotation is made.
4. BOM file
The BOM file is the list of materials. All materials used in PCBA processing, including the quantity of materials and the process route, are the important basis for material procurement. When PCBA is quoted, it also needs to be provided to the PCBA processing plant.
5. SMT
SMT is the abbreviation of “Surface Mounted Technology”, which refers to the process of solder paste printing, sheet components mounting and reflow oven soldering on PCB board.
6. Solder paste printer
The solder paste printing is a process of placing the solder paste on the steel net, leaking the solder paste through the hole of the steel net through the scraper, and accurately printing the solder paste on the PCB pad.
7. SPI
SPI is a solder paste thickness detector. After solder paste printing, SIP detection is needed to detect the printing situation of solder paste and control the printing effect of solder paste.
8. Reflow welding
Reflow soldering is to put the pasted PCB into the reflow solder machine, and through the high temperature inside, the paste solder paste will be heated into liquid, and finally the welding will be completed by cooling and solidification.
9. AOI
AOI refers to automatic optical detection. Through scanning comparison, the welding effect of PCB board can be detected, and the defects of PCB board can be detected.
10. Repair
The act of repairing AOI or manually detected defective boards.
11. DIP
DIP is short for “Dual In-line Package”, which refers to the processing technology of inserting components with pins into PCB board, and then processing them through wave soldering, foot cutting, post soldering, and plate washing.
12. Wave soldering
Wave soldering is to insert the PCB into the wave soldering furnace, after spray flux, preheating, wave soldering, cooling and other links to complete the welding of PCB board.
13. Cut the components
Cut the components on the welded PCB board to the proper size.
14. After welding processing
After welding processing is to repair welding and repair the PCB that is not fully welded after inspection.
15. Washing plates
The washing board is to clean the residual harmful substances such as flux on the finished products of PCBA in order to meet the environmental protection standard cleanliness required by customers.
16. Three anti paint spraying
Three anti paint spraying is to spray a layer of special coating on the PCBA cost board. After curing, it can play the performance of insulation, moisture proof, leakage proof, shock proof, dust proof, corrosion proof, aging proof, mildew proof, parts loose and insulation corona resistance. It can extend the storage time of PCBA and isolate external erosion and pollution.
17. Welding Plate
Turn over is PCB surface widened local leads, no insulation paint cover, can be used for welding components.
18. Encapsulation
Packaging refers to a packaging method of components, packaging is mainly divided into DIP double – line and SMD patch packaging two.
19. Pin spacing
Pin spacing refers to the distance between the center lines of adjacent pins of the mounting component.
20. QFP
QFP is short for “Quad Flat Pack”, which refers to a surface-assembled integrated circuit in a thin plastic package with short airfoil leads on four sides.
